The Sea of Love

So after having numerous discussions with my parents and friends. I have determined that maybe, there is more to Marymount than just school. I mean, while it may be stressful...I still have the best friends here. The Transfer Bunch, we call ourselves. Sean, Frankie, Megan, and Cherisse. They live on the girls floor below me and basically, we love each other and they are determined to have me stay. And I think that is quite possibly the best choice. I should just stick with what I have.

For those that are confused, I began having second thoughts on if Marymount was right for me. Classes are so stressful and are quite the workload. But you know what? I should let the others pass me by and focus on my schooling.

I applied for an internship and I am dying to get it. I want it so bad. The Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment Group. An intern needed to schedule events, and give tours of the Nederlander Entertainment sponsored Broadway theatres. Pre-requisites: Someone who has worked in theatre management, someone who is very familiar with theatre history. Yes that is me.

Back to a heavy note, my Stagecraft teacher informed the class I was a young, uninformed, and a "just starting out" actor because I have the Stanislavski Method Trilogy, and I own the Kristin Linklater speech and voice books.

Right...Gary Levinson, You've been teaching at Marymount for 6-7 years and you don't t realize that the acting instructors of Marymount Manhattan instruct their students in the ways of Stanislavski and Kristin Linklater. If they were for young, uninformed actors, then why are the books still praised among the older acting crowd? Thanks.

My first time...

Alrighty! I have a real blog! This is exciting! Well, I shall begin with an introduction. My name is Sean Flynn, I'm a college sophomore who just recently transferred from an Orlando, FL community college to Marymount Manhattan College in New York. I'm a double major in Acting and Directing and I am minoring in Musical Theatre. I must admit, the move to New York City was very hard for me. I mean, I love the city. But...I have so many memories in Florida and so many beautiful friends. I miss them so much. I am dorming at the 92nd Y and I must say. A single dorm, on a floor where there are parties until 4am...is not what I wanted. I wanted to live on 55th and 3rd with the suitemates and the awesome view. But hey, you can't always get what you want. And judging by what I saw...the people that live there...are not the people I want to become friends with. I mean, same goes for here (de Hirsch is what they call it).
I apologize for the lengthy introduction. But you have to know what to expect from me, I'm a Theatre major, I love attention. Anyway, Marymount. It's quite the school. Definitely a workload (as I have learned on the 2nd day of class).

I'm really glad I made one of these. This should be exciting! I guess, join me on my journey of discovering what New York City has to offer me.
