My Illustrious Wasteland Review

Saw the show twice: opening night and the 2nd performance. 

With a mix of glam rock and Broadway showtune this show is part musical theatre part rock show. Tod Kimbro took almost a decade to concoct this monstrous musical, costing nearly $30,000 to produce and boy is worthy of an Off-Broadway run. 7 of the songs come straight off of Tod's solo album 'Soundtrack to a Chemical Spill'.

This Distopian musical shows us what Earth will be like in the future: human brains are implanted with "Bio PCs" and history lessons in school consist of learning which celebrities were best dressed in People Magazine and what movie won the Academy for Best Picture. We meet Mogs, son of dead rock legend Lucifer Itch, his mom Loretta is addicted to anti-depressants since the world was declared officially depressed. The President Reverend MD was elected via online voting (this process was voted for through online voting, ironically enough).

We are introduced to Realists (the futures activist group that are against Bio PCs), and there's a disease known as Information Disease which has many symptoms and Mogs comes down with it.

Following so far? I hope so. The show, like the disease, is FULL of information but damn does it really add to the awesomeness. 

The cast is energetic and while some vocalists are weaker than others, their acting makes up for it. 

Hopefully this show makes it way to NYC...and soon. 

The show is very reminiscent of Repo! The Genetic Opera...another show I love!

Twilight.

Michael Welch (Mike Newton), of the Twilight film emailed me about 15-20 minutes ago. Attached, was the official script for the film.

Summer 2008 is not the best thing since sliced bread. 

It has been a crazy mix of emotions. Many friendships lost and many overly dramatic happenings. 

8 shows back to back and I am so sick of not having time to myself.

So I planned another Silent Rave.

Orlando isn't paradise.

I'm back home in Orlando and I sort of wish I wasn't. 

It all started on the wrong foot...My flight was delayed by 4 hours. 

My parents told me that I'm "too old for a vacation," and that I need to get a job to save up money while I'm home if I want to remain in New York. 

I'm gonna get all angry here and I could give two shits. Honestly, they have no idea what I went through in New York City. I went through hell and stressed myself out so bad that I lost all control of myself academically, physically and emotionally. 

I have been yelled out and criticized everyday since I've been home. 

Basically, Fringe week is my only week of freedom.

You know what I have to say about that? 

FUCK YOU. 

It's been a while

I apologize for not posting as often as I used to.

I saw Glory Days on April 26th and good god was it awful. It was 90 minutes, no intermission of horrendous story and monotonous pop music. The story: 4 guys meeting up for the first time since they graduated high school, now in the summer before sophomore year of college they want to make themselves known to the school they went to. They want to stand up to the jocks, and be cool. So they decide to time the sprinklers to turn on during the huge football game the night after they meet. A shocking secret tears them apart.

Hello...you're out of high school...What a lame idea. And...the shocking secret was a boy coming out. 

Glory Days closed opening night. 

I just saw Saved! The Musical this evening. Hilarious. The movie is still better, but the musical is so funny. The music is great and the acting is so full of emotion and so pure. I will be seeing it again tomorrow night.

In other news, the end of the school year has arrived. I will be home in 5 days. Scary. I have so much to do. But I am so ready to come home. I mean, I love New York City, but there's only so much I can handle.

A lot has been going through my mind lately, some things are kind of scaring me. Oh and so the grand total of boys who turned me down this semester...4. Hooray!

I ended up going to my schools end of the year formal, Boat Dance. We cruise on a boat for 3 hours and dance and party and drink. Not so fun. Granted, I was intoxicated, but still not fun. 

I've been listening to Next to Normal a lot lately and it's bringing up all the emotions I felt when I saw the show. Emotions I haven't felt in a very long time and it's making me vulnerable enough to grow feelings for people because I feel needy. Which is a terrible thing.

Damn you.

I went to the April 18th Silent Rave in Union Square. WOW. Loads of fun.

Now for some awesome stuff. I went to the Cry-Baby Opening Night Performance and VIP After Party. I sat in the front row and was surrounded by celebrities such as Ricki Lake, Debbie Harry (Blondie), Miss Guy, John Waters, Kathleen Turner, Johnny Depp, Matthew Morrison and TONS more. They were SO nice to meet and talk to, it was insane.

The show went very well (7th time seeing it). The party was held at the Mansion on 28th and 10th. Ridiculous. It was High School Picnic themed and they had entertainers dressed as lunch ladies, Drapes, Squares, Doctors, Nurses, Inmates, and hookers. It was AWESOME.

We received gift bags to fill up as the night went on. There were stations like the Kissing Booth (sponsored by none other than Altoids),  A Doctor's office, a bakery, a salon, hula hoop exhibits, and get your picture taken with you head on a cardboard bride and groom body. The cake will be featured on Ace of Cakes on the Food Network. The cake was the entire town of Baltimore with drapes and squares kissing and dancing, little houses, and railroad tracks. Insane. 

For those wondering, the Producers gave me the tickets to the event. I saw the show for the 6th time and I was approached by one of the producers and he asked me if I could give him my name, number and email. And sure enough I got a call from him and he gave me 2 tickets to the show and 2 VIP passes. I walked with them down the red carpet with my date. Got our photo's taken on the red carpet with the Cry Baby layout background. Rick and David introduced me to quite a lot of Broadway celebs. We had some drinks together. Debbie Harry was a DOLL. She looks  mean, but she is SOO cool.
